Lavender

Ever since the ancient Egyptians, lavender has been used by almost every major civilization across the different time periods. Egyptians incorporated lavender into their mummification process as well as adding it as a scent in their perfumes. The latter was continued by many other groups, from the Greeks, to the Romans, to Medieval Europe. Today, lavender is a symbol for serenity and peace, and its beautiful purple color makes for an excellent addition to a floral arrangement.
